Eight years after Tony and Hope's affair ended, new problems arise. Jimmy has gone off to college, but returns home with a startling revelation that devastates his father and causes his final heart attack. But will his decision protect him in the end?

This story begins with a startling bang, Time has passed eight years and we find Tony at ex-wife Brenda's bloody side as she dies from gash wounds to her stomach. Tony is arrested for her murder, even though he maintains his innocence. We are reminded that Tony has been a "bad boy," "womanizer," and the man whom Hope had an affair in the beginning book of this series, "Sacred Vows." His life hasn't become any better. Following his divorce from Brenda, he married again and that marriage ended for shocking reasons through this now second ex-wife Kristy entertaining a lesbian lover. Tony is busy raising his son during all this time and still has no understanding of who God can be in his life until he meets someone in jail who shares with Tony the love of Jesus. Tony's life begins to turn around when he commits his life to being a Christian. After Tony is cleared of murdering Brenda, he will have another surprise waiting for him further along in this incredible story.The next scene, eight years following the affair, we look in on Hope and her husband James who had been romantically reunited with renewed love and commitment. Their son Jimmy who is now in college, returns home for Thanksgiving. Hope's joy about having Jimmy home is spent planning a wonderful holiday celebration for her family. That joy is soon marred when James and Jimmy begin an argument over Jimmy's lack of interest in girls and socializing. During their tense Thanksgiving dinner, Jimmy declined to offer the blessing and spoke out on the teachings he'd learned in a class about the Bible; and he had developed a different attitude toward Christianity. James is angered and Hope is deeply concerned. She does a bit of snooping on Jimmy's social network page causing perplexed blinking in disbelief that Jimmy indicated his interest was in men. The end of this day already being full of shock and awe, Hope is further disappointed and concerned in James's inability to perform to their liking in bed. Later, during a phone conversation between Hope and Jimmy, he admits having sexual feelings, but not for girls. He tells Hope about Jack, a male friend he is attracted to, but nothing has happened between them. Jimmy invited his friend, Jack, to spend Christmas with him and his parents. This visit is the catalyst at causing estrangement between Jimmy and his dad, and is literally responsible for the sudden death of James, leaving Hope widowed and dismayed over the recent turning of tragic events.
Not wanting to reveal any more of the turns and circles in the maze of this creative and imaginative story, (the best of this series so far); I wait anxiously curious as to what happens beyond the ending. The story involving all the characters is very true to the title, "Decision to Love." I'm so impressed with how far out on the edge Michelle Sutton takes the story yet binds the story well within the limits of acceptability and decency. Michelle's writing offers so much about the grace of God and his gentle mercies. Her writing never disappoints me. If she offered to teach a writing course, I'd be the first to enroll.

Michelle has written a very daring book about subject matter that is very real in today's Christian world. Making a decision to love someone. This has to be my most favored book out of this entire series! She writes cleanly and clearly. The characters have depth and have grown from the first installment. You can't miss this book! It kept me reading late into the night and then first thing in the morning! I did not want to put it down! It is a must read!!!! Grab your copy ASAP!!!!
I would recommend Decision to Love; it was a great book and very easy to read; This could be anyone's story in this day and age. I never read the first seqment...have to read it! -)
I started reading this and was grateful. Homosexuality is not a subject that is openly addressed in Christianity. I loved the parts about the power of prayer. I loved Hope's friendship with a gay man. We are all human beings and we all are loved by God. This book beautifully addresses an issue that is rarely discussed. Jimmy's struggles are real and it is a blessing to see how he addresses them!
I did like this book. Faith filled stories warm my hear but I has to skip over parts of this book because if I read about someone crying, someone eyes filled with tears, someone getting misty one more time I really would have lost it. I'm a person who cries easily so I get it, but it seemed like you never went more than a few pages before someone was crying. After a while it took away from the story for me. Other than that the story showed how God can touch us in the most unexpected ways and bring the most unexpected things in our lives and while we may not understand all He does, it will all work together for His good.

Michelle Sutton has more courage in her little finger than I have in my entire life. She focuses on controversial topics, and with the mercy and grace of God, writes candidly about the subject. In the series, Sacred Vows, the first book, Never Without Hope, addresses the topic of an extramarital affair. Their Separate Ways, the second book, is about the aftermath of the affair from the viewpoint of both married couples--one couple is Christian, the other is not--and the most recent book to be released, Decision to Love, the subject of homosexuality is faced head-on.
In Decision to Love, major changes occur in the lives of the main characters who we met in Never Without Hope. Although Decision to Love can be read as a stand-alone book, I encourage you to read the first two books so you can follow the lives of the characters from the beginning of their story. Decision to Love picks up where Their Separate Ways ends and the book opens with an immediate "shocker." The situations involving Hope and James, her husband, the man Hope committed adultery with--Tony and his wife Brenda, begin to find resolution in ways that most readers might not expect. Without giving away a major part of the story, I will say that homosexuality is introduced and we meet Tony's long-lost daughter.
Michelle created a website called Edgy Christian Fiction Lovers, [...] and the phrase "Edgy Christian Fiction" quickly became the description for her books. Decision to Love is, by far, the edgiest of the three books. It is very suggestive and if you are easily offended by hints of sexual temptation and activity, you may not want to read it. However, this book is a very realistic slice of life and one that Christians and the church have, for the most part, ignored for far too long. Perhaps these books will begin to awaken the church to their responsibility to address these topics, not just from behind closed doors, but from the pulpit.
In all Christian Fiction books, including the edgy ones, it is expected that forgiveness, hope and redemption through Christ Jesus are the answers to whatever problem is presented within the book. Michelle does a masterful job as she makes it clear these three things are the answers to sin - any sin. These books should be read by couples whose marriage has been affected by adultery on either spouse's part; by parents whose child has declared their homosexuality; and by counselors and pastors who want to have a deeper insight into what families go through in these situations. I know that these books have broadened my understanding of the effects on families when adultery and/or homosexuality invades their lives. I encourage the readers to read these books prayerfully, asking God to give you an open mind, eyes to see, ears to hear, a heart to receive and compassion and wisdom for those whom the readers know who are involved in adultery or homosexuality.
